Deptford Park
By David Tait

I decided to write “Deptford Park”, partly as a personal therapeutic experience but also as an attempt to demonstrate to other abused children that life is retrievable. The “book’s” chapters alternate between an account of the 2007 Traverse summit push, and episodes from my dubious past that highlight the legacy of sexual abuse. The stark contrast between the climbing and personal chapters was deliberate.

I have posted the “book” on the site in both its complete PDF form and as individual PDF chapters. Feel free to read from the site or download as you wish. All I ask is that once read, you consider making a donation [any amount] to my charity – but there is absolutely no obligation whatsoever. It’s free.

Any proceeds from the “book”, either from a future publishing deal or from donations on this site will go directly to the NSPCC [The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children].

If just one abused child, teenager or adult finds the tale inspirational it would have been worth the effort.
